Swedish luxury car maker, Volvo, has just launched the S60 Cross Country in India with a price tag of Rs 38.9 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The new 'crossover sedan' was first showcased in 2015 in Detroit.
The highlight of the new S60 Cross Country is its high ground clearance of 201mm, which is 65mm higher than the standard S60, and is also the highest in the luxury segment for a sedan. Volvo is aiming to deliver the comfort of a luxury sedan, while allowing for the versatility of an SUV, and we all know that in a country like India, where the roads can be hazardous, a luxury car with a high ground clearance seems to be very practical.
Along with its high ground clearance the car also gets all-wheel drive as standard, so funnily enough it seems that the car is actually built to do a bit of off-roading if the occasion arises.
However, the S60 Cross Country gets a less powerful version of the 2.4-litre D4 five-cylinder diesel engine used in the standard S60. Power is rated at 189bhp and 420Nm of torque. The car also comes in only one trim level but is loaded with features such as electric front seats, satellite navigation, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, front, side and curtain airbags laser assisted autonomous braking from speeds upto 50kph, hill descent control and hill start assist as part of the company’s City Safety system and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
