Volvo reveals the updated V40 range ahead of its 2016 Geneva Motor Show debut.
Volvo has revealed the facelifted version of the V40 hatchback and Cross Country models. The refreshed range will be unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor show in a weeks' time. Updates on the new models are mainly cosmetic, although they also gain a slew of new features and equipment along with revamped interiors.
As per Volvo, the V40’s design has been brought in line with other (newer) cars from the range. This means the hatchback’s exterior is now inspired by Volvo’s 90-Series of cars (XC90, S90 and V90). Naturally, the aesthetic highlight of the facelift has to be the inclusion of “Thor’s Hammer” daytime running lights and a new mesh grille featuring “Volvo Iron Mark”. The Cross Country also receives identical design updates.
Apart from this, Volvo has introduced five new exterior shades on the car – most of which are actually different hues of blue. To help onlookers differentiate between variants, Volvo has also introduced ‘rank marks’ – which apparently visualize trim levels and variants. There are also eight new wheel designs to choose from across the V40, R-Design and Cross Country models.
Inside, the 2017 model range gets a new a new upholstery and Charcoal/Blond steering wheel option. Several new panel trims finished in aluminium are also added to the options list. New sill plates will be added for the R-Design and Inscription trim levels while the 2017 models also get an updated key fob. The cabin now features Volvo’s CleanZone technology that filters outside air before entering the cabin, removing harmful pollutants etc.
Engine options will remain unchanged. That means it will continue to be sold with two petrol (1.5-litre in T2 and T3 along with 2.0-litre in T5) and one diesel (2.0-litre in D2, D3 and D4) engine.
The refreshed Volvo V40 hatchback and Cross Country will make their way into the Indian market soon. Considering we get both these models as direct imports, they are expected to be here by the end of this year.
