Volvo has launched the V40 luxury hatchback in India, with the base model priced at Rs 24.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The V40 features a high-gloss grille that is low and wide to create a sporty look. The lower opening is surrounded at the corners by sculpted bodywork, stretching from one wheel arch to the other. A fixed paranoma roof also makes an appearance and stretches from the front windscreen to the backrest of the rear seats.

Speaking at the occasion, Tom von Bonsdorff, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India said, “I am excited about introduction V40 on the Indian roads. V40 represents a model which is premium on design, features, technology and safety redefining the compact luxury offering in the segment. It is way ahead of the competition when it comes to intelligent accident prevention and mitigation. The car will bring in new impetus to our growth strategy in India.”

Volvo’s latest offering is packed with plenty of safety and support features, such as Park Assist Pilot, Pedestrian Airbag Technology and City Safety, among others. The last two features are particularly noteworthy. When sensors in the front bumper register physical contact with a pedestrian, the rear bonnet is released and simultaneously elevated by the deployed airbag. Similarly, the City Safety feature makes the car brake automatically at speeds in excess of 50 km/hr, if the driver fails to react in time.

The Volvo V40 is offered in two variants, with the base variant - Kinetic - priced at Rs 24.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the more premium D3 R-Design available for Rs 27.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
