Swedish luxury car maker Volvo has established a new dealership in Mumbai in a bid to increase their share in the Indian market.
Volvo recorded a 31% increase in year-on-year sales last year, with nearly 1200 cars sold from its 16 dealerships. This year, the company plans to increase that figure to 2000 units - something that would only be possible through new dealerships across the country.
“Buoyed by our increased acceptability among our valued customers in the last 2-3 years, we are now looking at further strengthening out foothold and expanding our reach in the Indian market. Mumbai is the business capital and it was imperative for us to have an ideal partner in the city,” Thomas Ernberg, MD Volvo Auto India said.
Volvo is eyeing four launches this year, including a new version of their flagship XC90 SUV: "We are launching four new models in the current year, which includes two variants of V4,’’ Ernberg said. “We are planning to launch new XC90 luxurious 7-seater SUV in September this year, which is expected to be priced between Rs 80-85 lakh."
