Volvo ES90 Unveiled Globally with 700 Km Range and 350kW Fast Charging
Built on the scalable SPA2 platform, the ES90 is Volvo’s second model to utilise its EV-exclusive architecture, following the EX90 SUV.

Volvo has officially unveiled the ES90, a new electric luxury sedan boasting a range of up to 700 km on a single charge. Designed to set new benchmarks in the premium EV segment, the ES90 supports 350kW fast charging, enabling rapid battery replenishment for enhanced convenience. Built on Volvo’s advanced SPA2 platform, the sedan features a sleek, aerodynamic design with a focus on sustainability and cutting-edge technology. The ES90 comes equipped with a high-performance dual-motor setup, ensuring a balance of power and efficiency. Inside, the cabin offers a minimalist yet luxurious experience, integrating a large infotainment display and advanced driver-assistance systems. With this global debut, Volvo reinforces its commitment to electrification and premium mobility solutions.
New Volvo ES90: Styling
The ES90 takes heavy design inspiration from the EX90, featuring key elements such as vertically stacked taillights, ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlights, and a fully enclosed grille.

While its fastback silhouette is aerodynamically optimised, the overall side profile closely resembles the globally available plug-in hybrid S90. Moreover, a LiDAR module is prominently positioned on the front of the roof.
New Volvo ES90: Platform, Range, and Charging
Built on the scalable SPA2 platform, the ES90 is Volvo’s second model to utilise its EV-exclusive architecture, following the EX90 SUV. However, it introduces a major technological enhancement with its 800-volt electrical system, which significantly improves charging speed, energy efficiency, and overall driving performance compared to traditional 400-volt setups. The single motor variant houses a 92kWh battery that powers the rear wheels, whereas the twin motor and twin motor performance models feature all-wheel drive and utilise a slightly larger 106kWh battery pack.

The vehicle also incorporates an advanced battery management system, combined with adaptive charging technology from Breathe Battery Technologies, reducing charging time from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes – a 30% improvement over Volvo’s earlier EVs. Additionally, the use of lightweight materials and refined electric motors enhances both acceleration and range.
When connected to a 350kW fast charger, the ES90 can add 300 km of range in just 10 minutes. Volvo estimates a maximum WLTP range of 700 km/charge, surpassing the EX90’s certified 600 km range.
New Volvo ES90: Interior and Features
The ES90’s interior embraces a minimalist aesthetic, reminiscent of the EX90 and EX30, with a streamlined dashboard and clean door panels. Most functions are operated via a 14.5-inch touchscreen unit, while the driver has access to a separate 9-inch digital instrument cluster and a head-up display for real-time driving information.

Despite its understated design, the cabin is packed with high-end technology and convenience features. These include an advanced air purification system, a panoramic sunroof with electrochromic dimming, six-colour ambient lighting, an optional 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, a four-zone automatic climate control system, and integrated Google apps, and sensors that can detect the presence of a child or pet left inside. The ES90 is a software-driven model powered by a dual Nvidia Drive AGX Orin system, capable of processing over 500 trillion operations per second.
