Volvo has achieved a key sales milestone in India, selling over 1,000 EVs through its online sales platform. The Swedish carmaker's Indian lineup has two electric vehicles: the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge, both of which are locally made. The former arrived here in November 2022, while the latter joined the range in September 2023. Compared to 2022, Volvo's total sales increased by 31% last year. Both SUVs made up 28% of the company's total sales in India. According to Volvo, the most recent sales milestone marks a big step toward going all-electric by 2030. Let's take a quick look at some key specs of the Swedish carmaker's all-electric vehicles in India.

Volvo XC40 Recharge, C40 Recharge: Key Specifications
Except for the C40 Recharge's coupe-like sloping roofline, the two electric vehicles are very similar in terms of appearance and features. Mechanically, however, they are slightly different. Starting with the XC40 Recharge, the SUV is offered in rear-wheel drive (RWD) single-motor and all-wheel drive (AWD) dual-motor versions. The former has a 69kWh battery with 235bhp, and a range of 475 kilometres, whereas the latter comes with a bigger 78kWh battery with 402bhp and a range of 505 kilometres. The C40 Recharge, on the other hand, has a 78kWh battery with a dual-electric motor AWD setup that produces 402bhp. It offers a claimed range of 530 kilometres.
In terms of features, the electrified SUVs offer a 12-inch digital driver's display, a 13-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, a panoramic glass roof, and a 9-inch infotainment system with integrated Google apps. They come with a 360-degree camera with front and rear parking sensors, seven airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, and ADAS Level 2 features like blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and emergency for safety.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge is priced at Rs 57.90 for the AWD version and Rs 54.95 lakh for the RWD variant. The C40 Recharge, on the other hand, costs Rs 62.95 lakh. In the premium EV market, the Volvo EVs lock horns with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6.
