In June this year, the Swedish automotive manufacturer revealed the Volvo C40 Recharge in India, their second electric car for the country after the XC40 Recharge which retails at an introductory price of Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The C40 Recharge is highly anticipated and will soon be available in the Indian market. As now Volvo will offer two EVs, customers might find it challenging to make a decision. According to industry reports, Volvo aims to increase its share in the luxury electric four-wheeler category with the launch of the C40 Recharge. The company claims the C40 Recharge can go from 0-100km/h in just 4.7 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the XC40 Recharge. Volvo C40 Recharge vs XC40 Recharge: Design
The forthcoming EV from the house of Volvo has many similarities in design to its sibling, the XC40 Recharge. However, the difference is notable in the coupe-like sloping of the roofline. The C40 Recharge has vertically oriented LED taillights, Volvo's signature Thor's Hammer LED daytime running lights, and a closed-off grille. Moreover, the C40 comes equipped with new 19-inch aero wheels. On the other side, the older sibling flaunts a closed grille, alloy wheels, a flat bonnet, Thor's Hammer LED headlights with DRLs, L-shaped taillights, door-mounted ORVMs, and more.
Volvo C40 Recharge vs XC40 Recharge: Dimensions and Features
The Volvo C40 Recharge and the XC40 Recharge have nearly similar dimensions, but the C40 has more front headroom at 39.4-inch as opposed to 37.6-inch in the older sibling, while the XC40 has more rear headroom at 38.3-inch as compared to 36.7-inch in the younger counterpart. In terms of interior, the significant difference between the two models is that the C40 Recharge is entirely devoid of leather. Aside from this, the Volvo C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge both come equipped with almost an identical technological and safety feature list, which consists of a rear-view camera, an ADAS suite, multiple airbags, a top-notch Harman Kardon sound system, a digital instrument cluster, front, and rear USB ports, a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment panel, and more.
Volvo C40 Recharge vs XC40 Recharge: Powertrain
The two electric motors in the Volvo C40 Recharge and the XC40 Recharge are connected to a 78kWh battery pack to provide power. Both versions produce 660Nm and 402bhp from this arrangement. However, because of its more aerodynamic design, the C40 Recharge has a slightly longer WLTP-claimed driving range of 530 kilometre on a single charge. The dual-motor AWD system is also a part of this upcoming vehicle. The C40 Recharge has a top speed of 180km/h and can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. The XC40, on the other hand, can do the same in 4.9 seconds and has a WLTP-claimed range of 418 kilometre.
