On September 4, 2023, Volvo India will be launching the C40 Recharge coupe-SUV as its next all-electric model. The high-end SUV made its debut in the country earlier this year, and it is anticipated that online reservations for the electrified Coupe SUV will begin in the coming days. Deliveries are also set to start right away after the launch in September. The Volvo C40 Recharge joins its sibling, the XC40 Recharge, which is already available for purchase in our home market. The former stands out because of its distinctive coupe roofline, slanted windscreen, and updated LED taillights. Interestingly, the tailgate had to be remodelled, and new reverse lights were added to the taillights, which are now larger and sleeker with a wraparound effect. The Volvo C40 Recharge will have six different colour options for buyers, to choose from. These include Cloud Blue, Fjord Blue, Crystal White, Onyx Black, Saga Green, and Fusion Red. The first four shades are currently available with the car. Here's all you need to know about the awaited C40 recharge.

C40 Recharge: Platform and Battery
The C40 Recharge is powered by a newer battery pack built on the brand's CMA platform (Compact Modular Architecture). In comparison to the 418-kilometre range of the XC40 Recharge, which still employs the older batteries, the 78kWh unit delivers a range of 530-kilometre (WLTP cycle) on a single charge.
The Volvo C40 Recharge's powertrain will have dual motors on each axle that produce a combined 402bhp of maximum power and 660Nm of peak torque. If you plug a 150 kW DC fast charger into the coupe SUV, it can be charged from 0 to 100 per cent in just 27 minutes. According to Volvo, the 0-100km/h dash takes just 4.7 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the XC40 Recharge.
C40 Recharge: Styling Cues
The C40 Recharge shares many similarities with its SUV sibling, the XC40 Recharge, except for its rear profile, where the roofline has a coupe-like finish, and the rear windscreen is steeply slanted. The result of this was a redesign of the tailgate and taillight assembly. In this design, the taillamps are smaller, have a wider wraparound effect, and have new rear lights. Unlike the XC40 Recharge, which has a continuous strip of LED lighting, this vehicle has segmented LED lighting near the windscreen. Unlike the SUV, the LEDs on the C40 Recharge also extend into the tailgate, and the whole design gives the vehicle's rear a significantly larger stance.
Another addition is a new two-part spoiler with a unique twin-pod design on the roof and a blacked-out spoiler on the boot lid to increase aerodynamics. The C40 Recharge's rear design also appears much more crowded and sportier than the XC40 Recharge's, despite the SUV's bumper remaining untouched. Because of the sloping roofline, the window line has also been slightly modified. Furthermore, the C40 Recharge is the only Volvo in India to receive the distinctive Pixel LED headlamps. The front bumper, hood, contouring on the doors, and dual-tone 19-inch alloy wheels are the exterior highlights shared by the C40 Recharge and its SUV sibling. The headlamps incorporate Thor's hammer LED Daytime Running Lamps.
C40 Recharge: Interior and Features
The new Volvo C40 Recharge has many similar interior features to the ones found in XC40 Recharge, including premium leather upholstery, a black interior with wood inserts, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, slim, vertically stacked air vents, and a digital instrument console. Additionally, there is an inbuilt e-SIM. The carmaker further chooses to use an Android-based infotainment system in its vehicles, and the C40 Recharge has done the same. The device, which offers direct access to services like Google Maps and Assistant as well as the option to download apps from the PlayStore on the car's system, requires you to check in with your Google ID like any other Android device.
Dual-zone climate control, a top-of-the-line Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, electrically adjustable front seats with memory for the driver, and other amenities are all available on the C40 Recharge. Sensor-based ADAS technology with autonomous driving capability is another highlight. Meanwhile, the model has a reduced luggage space, with a capacity of 413 litres as opposed to 452 litres on the XC40 Recharge. There is also a 31-litre frunk storage compartment up front.

C40 Recharge: Rivals
Upon release, the Volvo C40 Recharge will face competition from the Kia EV6, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the Mercedes-Benz EQB. The prices for the electric coupe SUV are anticipated to begin at around Rs 60 lakh.
