On September 4, Volvo Car India will be launching the much-awaited C40 Recharge, the brand's first all-electric vehicle, in the nation. Following the XC40 Recharge, the C40 Recharge is going to be the automaker's second electric SUV in India. The C40 Recharge, as opposed to the XC40 Recharge, is a born electric vehicle (BEV), implying it was created from the ground up to be an electric vehicle. The SUV has a coupe-like design and will be put together at the Volvo plant in Hoskote, Karnataka. In a recent development regarding the upcoming EV, it has been confirmed that the reservations for the SUV will open on September 5 with delivery expected to start that same month. We anticipate the C40 Recharge to be slightly more expensive than the XC40 Recharge, which has a starting price of Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Volvo C40 Recharge: Platform and Battery Pack
For those unaware, the compact modular architecture (CMA) platform serves as the foundation for the Volvo C40 Recharge. The all-wheel drive variant for India will be offered with a 78kWh (gross) battery pack and a 245.5bhp motor on the back axle and a 157bhp motor on the front axle. A maximum power output of 402bhp and 660Nm of peak torque can be churned out by the electric motors together. According to WLTP standards, the range for this AWD variant is 530-kilometre on a single charge. Consequently, the C40 Recharge can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 180km/h.
Volvo C40 Recharge: Design and Dimension Details
The C40 Recharge shares a lot of similarities with the XC40 Recharge in terms of appearance, but stands apart with a distinctive coupe-style sloping roofline. It still sports the closed-off grille, vertical taillamps, and daytime running lights in Thor's Hammer design. With a wheelbase of 2,702mm, the C40 Recharge has dimensions of 4,440mm in length, 1,910mm in width, and 1,591mm in height. The model built for India gets new 19-inch aero wheels.
Volvo C40 Recharge: Interior Features
The C40 Recharge's interior is outfitted with leather-free upholstery made of a suede textile and Microtech material that comes in two colours: Charcoal and Fjord Blue. The driver's seat has a memory feature and motorised front seats. Furthermore, it has a 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, two-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch fully digital driver display, an in-cabin air purifier, and two Type-C USB ports. It also has a tablet-style 9-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system that is powered by Google.
Other feature highlights include a hands-free motorised tailgate, connected car technology, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), seven airbags, a wireless charging pad, a hill start assist, a hill descent control, and ADAS.

Volvo C40 Recharge: Market Rivals
The Mercedes-Benz EQB, the Kia EV6, and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 will all be competitors for the Volvo C40 Recharge once it goes on sale in the Indian market.
