At its Annual Brand Conference 2024, Volkswagen rolled out the new visual identity for the Virtus sedan. A more sporty concept named the Vitus GT Plus Sport was revealed, with the car getting a unique blacked-out treatment for the front grille, trapezoidal wings, bumpers, ORVMs, roof, 16-inch alloy wheels, diffuser, and spoiler. The GT Plus Sport also gets smoked LED headlamps; a Carbon Steel Grey roof; red brake callipers; dark chrome door handles; and red GT branding on the grille, fender, and rear profile.

Inside the cabin, a similar black-and-red treatment can be seen. The Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus Sport gets an all-black interior incorporating black leatherette seats with grey stitching, glossy black inserts on the dashboard, aluminium pedals, a black headliner, and a Sport steering wheel with grey stitching. The glossy black treatment can also be seen on the grab handles, roof lamp housing, and sun visors.

Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus Sport: Powertrain

A 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine will power the Virtus GT Plus Sport. The engine develops 148bhp of maximum output and 250Nm of torque. The transmission duties will likely be handled by either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG unit.

Like the Volkswagen Tiguan GT Plus Sport, expect the Virtus lineup to get a refresh. If the company plans on doing so, the Virtus will be available in Chrome, Sport, and GT Edge trims under the revamped line structure. Moreover, a 1.0-litre TSI unit with 113bhp and 178Nm will also be offered.

Volkswagen ID.4 Showcased Too

Alongside the new Taigun and Virtus, the all-electric ID.4 was showcased for the first time in the country. While the EV is already on sale in international markets, it is expected to arrive on our market later this year. The Volkswagen ID.4, based on the MEB platform, will be the first electric offering for India. The carmaker claims the ID.4 has a 479km range (WLTP) on a single charge.
