While the Tiguan R-Line will be available both online and through authorised dealerships, its sportier sibling — the Golf GTI — will be sold exclusively via Volkswagen’s online sales platform.

The Tiguan R-Line marks a clear departure from the previous version that received only minor updates back in 2023. The all-new model arrives with a sharper, more refined design and a distinct focus on sportiness. This variant stands out with a heavily black-themed exterior, lending it a more aggressive and dynamic personality. The front end features a contemporary design highlighted by a full-width illuminated strip and slim LED daytime running lights (DRLs), adding a sense of visual continuity. A redesigned, darkened front bumper injects a muscular character, while subtle ‘R’ badges on the doors underline its sporty positioning.

Along the sides, the SUV is equipped with angular 19-inch alloy wheels that enhance its athletic stance. The wheel arches are accentuated with black cladding that ties in with the vehicle’s overall bold theme. At the rear, a single connected LED tail-light bar enhances its visual width, while polished chrome accents on the bumper provide a stylish contrast to the otherwise stealthy appearance.
Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line: Interior Features and Safety Suite
Step inside, and the Tiguan R-Line reflects the German carmaker’s modern interior styling seen across its global lineup. The dashboard features a clean, layered layout dominated by black surfaces, contrasted with gloss-black and silver trim for a sophisticated touch. The black leatherette seats mirror the dashboard’s theme, contributing to the SUV’s refined, cohesive interior design. The centrepiece is a floating 15-inch infotainment unit that integrates most of the vehicle's controls.
In terms of features, the R-Line offers wireless charging, customisable ambient lighting with a palette of 30 colours, three-zone automatic climate control, drive selector switch, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front seats with heating and massage functions, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, eight-speaker sound system, and a panoramic sunroof.
On the safety front, the SUV boasts an impressive list of standard features, including a rear-view camera, nine airbags, and front and rear parking sensors. It also offers Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems), such as autonomous emergency braking with collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, and lane change assistance.
Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line: Engine and Gearbox Options
The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line is propelled by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This unit delivers power to all four wheels through VW’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. Though the engine is the same as the one used in the outgoing Tiguan, it now produces 201bhp of maximum power and 320Nm of torque – an increase of 14bhp. The car claims a mileage of 12.58km/l.
Enhancing its driving versatility, the SUV also comes equipped with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), a system that actively adjusts suspension stiffness in response to the selected driving mode, ensuring a tailored ride quality across varying conditions.
