Now that the Volkswagen T-Roc and the Tiguan Allspace are off showroom floors, Volkswagen India has reintroduced the Tiguan crossover SUV, but this time, only with a petrol engine.
Volkswagen India has brought back the Tiguan, but this time, the crossover SUV features some new bits. For instance, the Tiguan gets an all-new fascia, and even the grille and headlamp design are all new. The bumpers on both ends are re-profiled as well. Part of the update also includes larger 18-inch alloy wheels.
The cabin also features some changes to the dashboard. The centre console now houses a larger infotainment system. The seat fabric is new along with the steering wheel design.
The biggest change that it features over its predecessor is it now gets a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine instead of the 2.0-litre turbo diesel unit. The gearbox is the same seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, which is coupled to an all-wheel-drive system.
The new Volkswagen Tiguan is priced at Rs 31.99 lakh (ex-showroom). At this pricing, the direct rivals of the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan include the Hyundai Tucson, Citroen C5 AirCross, and Jeep Compass. While the Compass and the C5 AirCross are relatively new, it is the Hyundai Tucson that will soon see a generation upgrade. Hyundai will launch the all-new generation of the Tucson in India sometime in the first half of 2022.
