Just days before commencing the production of the Volkswagen Taigun, the company has officially started accepting bookings for the same. The SUV can be booked via the company’s online portal as well.
Volkswagen Taigun is the first SUV developed under the brand’s India 2.0 strategy. The launch is expected around the festive season and the Volkswagen has already commenced the pre-bookings for the SUV. The SUV can be booked for a token amount of Rs 25,000 on the company’s official website, or at your nearest authorised dealership.
Volkswagen has also introduced the ‘Taigun squad’ concept that will get you invites to Volkswagen events, and redeemable vouchers or rewards worth Rs 5,000. The reward can be redeemed to purchase – any one of these – extended warranty, service pack for two years or accessories.
To enrol into the ‘Taigun squad’, one must register their interest in the Taigun on the company’s official website. However, there are only limited entries into the newly formed ‘Taigun squad’.
The Taigun gets two engine options, and both the engines are offered with an optional automatic transmission. A 1.0-litre turbo-petrol will be the powertrain for the entry-level models. This engine will come with a six-speed manual and an optional six-speed torque converter automatic. The output for the smaller powerplant is 114bhp and 175Nm of torque.
Moving to the larger 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine option that will be offered with the higher GT trim levels. This engine will get an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, while the lower variant will come equipped with a six-speed manual. The power has been rated at 148bhp and 250Nm.
The Volkswagen Taigun rivals the recently launched Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. The pricing of the German SUV in this lot is expected to be very aggressive and close to the pricing of the Skoda Kushaq that ranges between Rs 10.50 lakh and Rs 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
