Claims a reduction in the cost of regular service by 24 to 44 per cent across all car models
As far as after sales service goes, Volkswagen cars are usually perceived to be heavy on the pocket. In a bid to change this, the German car maker has introduced new service schemes and initiatives. Starting from 1st January 2019, all Volkswagen cars get three free services for up to 15,000 kilometres or 1 year. The company previously used to offer just one free service at 7,500 kilometres or 6 months.
Aside from the free services, the Wolfsburg-based carmaker now also offers 4 years of roadside assistance along with the car purchase. The company previously used to offer just 2 years of roadside assistance on the purchase of a new car. Additionally, the standard warranty on all Volkswagen offerings has increased too – from two years unlimited kilometres to four years 1,00,000 kilometres. All of this, the company claims has resulted in a reduction in service cost of about 24 to 44 per cent.
Speaking on this occasion, Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars said, “Volkswagen is determined towards providing the best of our offerings to the value-driven Indian customers. The brand has been making conscious efforts towards addressing its key requirement of the customer - high maintenance costs. By adopting an India centric approach, there’s been an overall reduction in the total cost of ownership while retaining the same quality, safety and value-for-money proposition that is expected of a Volkswagen. Thus, it gives me immense pride in announcing an affordable ownership experience for the aspirational Indian customer.”
Bringing consistency in the service process, Volkswagen has also placed a standard menu pricing across all its service networks. The carmaker has also introduced new value packages with new car purchases. Buyers can now opt for an extended warranty for 1 year/20,000 km. The maximum limit of availing add-on warranty is till 7 years OR 125,000 km whichever is earlier.
