Polo and Vento - two entry level cars from Volkswagen - received top honours in a consumer satisfaction survey conducted by J.D. Power Asia Pacific.
The Volkswagen Polo was awarded the best car in premium compact segment through the Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout(APEAL) study, with Vento ranked third in the mid-size segment.
The study was based on responses from 8,422 owners who purchased a new vehicle between May 2014 to September 2014 in 30 different cities across the country. Customers had to rate the car across 10 performance categories: vehicle exterior, vehicle interior, storage and space, audio/entertainment/navigation, seats, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), driving dynamics, engine/transmission, visibility and driving safety, and fuel economy.
Points were awarded for each category with Polo coming on top with a score of 872 from a maximum of 1000 points. Vento scored 10 points less in the mid-size category and finished third.
Both the cars were classified second in another survey by the same company where the focus is on assessing the number and extent of problems owners experience during first 2 to 6 months of ownership.
Polo registered 85 PP100 (problems per 100 vehicles) which while the Vento scored 68 PP100. Both cars made improvement over their last year’s figures.
