Volkswagen has released a teaser image of the ID.7 GTX Electric Limousine. It is a new high-performance model that is based on the brand's modular electric drive matrix (MEB), and it is also the third model in Volkswagen's all-electric ID series to offer a GTX version. The abbreviation GTX represents electric mobility and intelligent sportiness. Similar to the ID.4 GTX and the ID.5 GTX models, the new ID.7 electric vehicle features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. According to the company, the all-wheel-drive system in the ID.7 GTX will be intelligently controlled by the vehicle dynamics manager striving to achieve the optimum combination of efficiency, dynamics, and driving stability.
Based on the driving profile selected, the vehicle dynamics manager controls everything, from the powertrain to braking, steering, and chassis control systems. The ID.7 GTX electric vehicle's running gear and steering, the company said, have been upgraded on the modular electric drive platform, providing a cocktail of sportiness and comfort.
In addition, the Volkswagen ID.7 GTX model will also come with a host of sporty design elements to complement the car's high-performance nature.
Volkswagen ID.7 GTX: Exterior & Interior
The exterior of the ID.7 GTX is finished in gloss black paint, which includes a black-finished roof and darkened windows. On the other hand, the interior of the car receives red GTX contrast stitching on the seats, doors and dash panel, thereby bringing out its sporty character.
The specifications and other details will be revealed at the time of the car's world premiere scheduled to take place at the IAA Mobility trade show in September this year. As far as our market is concerned, the ID models are yet not available here. However, the ID.4 GTX was showcased at Volkswagen's annual press conference held in India, and it will make its entry into our market by late 2023. In the upper mid-size segment, the upcoming EV will lock horns with the Kia EV6, the Hyundai Kona, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the Volvo XC40 Recharge. For those unaware, the GTX brand with its all-electric performance vehicles has remained part of the brand's lineup for two years.
