From January to December, Volkswagen Group sold 10.14 million vehicles worldwide in 2014; 4.2% more than what it did in 2013.
For the first time in history, Volkswagen Group sold over ten million cars worldwide in 2014. December witnessed a total deliveries of 8,81,000 cars which is 2.7% up by December 2013 sales. In the last ten years, the group has doubled its number of vehicles delivered. The phenomenal performance by the group’s sub-brands also is a key factor in achieving this feat.
Commenting on the achievement, Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft said, “In 2014, our Group delivered over ten million vehicles in total to customers, ranging from the e-up!* city car to heavy commercial vehicles. That is impressive confirmation considering we are vigorously implementing our Strategy 2018 despite challenging market conditions. We are also making good progress with our other main goals – return on sales, customer satisfaction and top employer.”
Categorically, the group sold 3.95 million vehicles in Europe, 2,75,800 units in Russia, 8,91,900 in North America and 7,95,700 in South America. Asia-Pacific remained the group’s largest market where it sold a staggering 4.06 million cars out of which 3.68 million cars were sold in China alone.
Talking about the sub-brands, Volkswagen Passenger Cars contributed 6.12 million to the entire sales figures, Audi delivered 1.74 million cars worldwide in 2014 and Porsche did 1,89,900 sales in 2014. Two another sub-brands, Skoda and Seat sold 1.04 million and 3,90,500 cars respectively in 2014.
