The Volkswagen Golf R Black Edition debuts in the US with a blacked-out design, enhanced aerodynamics, sporty touches, and an Akrapovi titanium exhaust system.
Volkswagen has introduced the Golf R Black Edition in the US. This new version of the Mk8 Golf R comes with a bold blacked-out design and improved aerodynamics. It is built on the MQB modular platform, known for its balance of performance and practicality. Engineers and designers worked together in the wind tunnel to shape the body for better airflow. This helps the car look sharper and perform better. The Golf R Black Edition features black alloy wheels, black brake callipers, and carbon fibre details for a sleek, sporty look. It also includes aerodynamic side mirrors, shaped wheel arches, and underbody panels to reduce drag.
The Volkswagen Golf R Black Edition blends performance with comfort and smart tech. It features Nappa leather sport seats, a 12-way power driver’s seat with memory, and heated and ventilated front seats. Even rear outboard passengers get heated seats.

Convenience features include rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming mirrors, LED reading lights, and Volkswagen Car-Net with Wi-Fi. A head-up display shows key info on the windshield, while a panoramic sunroof adds to the cabin’s feel. The optional Euro Style Package simplifies the setup by removing seat ventilation, power adjustment, driver memory, and the sunroof.
At the centre is the 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro, a customisable display with up to four modes. It can show full-screen navigation, driving data, and phone details. When navigation is active, maps can appear on both the cockpit screen and infotainment system, helping reduce distractions.
The Volkswagen Golf R uses a 2.0-litre EA888 evo4 turbo engine that delivers 323bhp at 5,850 rpm and 400Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm for quick, responsive performance. This engine is matched to a 7-speed DS® dual-clutch automatic transmission with Tiptronic.
The DSG system allows for lightning-fast gear changes, combining the convenience of an automatic with the control of manual gear selection.
