It was at the Frankfurt Motorshow, a couple of years ago, that Volkswagen revealed the Up! to the world and now it is all set to unveil the next Up! concept, the E-Up! The E-Up! is a fully electric car which should be perfectly suited to city driving conditions.

Volkswagen has gone from engine to no engine this time and the E-Up! is powered by lithium-ion batteries stored in the floor, and an electric motor with a peak power of around 80bhp. A Continuous output of 55bhp, propels  the E-Up! from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.3 seconds and gets a top speed of 135 km/h.

The E-Up! will give a maximum range of 130 kms and recharging from your household electrical outlet takes as long as five hours. The exterior carries over the basic idea of the first Up! concept but the front end reminds you of Volkswagen Beetle.

Inside, the look is appropriate for an entry-level, compact, and possibly lightweight car. From what we’ve heard and read, the E-Up! concept will be eerily silent and immensely interesting. Let’s see what it’s all about.
