Model year 2022 (MY22) Volvo XC60 has been unveiled and the crossover SUV hosts more changes on the inside than on the outside. For the MY22, Volvo have mildly restyled the exterior with redesigned bumpers on either end. A new grille, alloy wheel design and colour options are also on offer.
However, the mainstay of the update lies on the inside. The MY22 XC60 gets an android powered multimedia system that offers Google services for the first four years of ownership. The customer can then continue with the Google services should they wish. Google services include maps, hands-free help with assistants along with Google’s app services. Volvo states that these services will currently be limited by region.
Volvo also mentions that in some markets the multimedia system will not be a standard offering and might be made available with the higher trim levels of the respective cars. The next generation multimedia will also be offered in the S90, V90, and V90 Cross Country models. It was also showcased in the XC40 Recharge that Volvo recently unveiled in India. The update also include an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), that detects other road users, automatic braking and collision avoidance. The cabin also gets Weave Textile upholstery as a part of the update.
As the company plans of going full-electric by 2025 - the first step taken by the Swedish car makers is to let go of the diesel drivetrain and the MY XC60 will be offered with a petrol engine and a plug-in hybrid. The engine on offer is a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine available with different state of tune ranging between 242bhp and 315bhp. The 2022 Volvo XC60 will go into production by May 2021, for the international markets and is expected to be launched in India by the final quarter of this year.
