A test mule of the Volkswagen Virtus was spotted in India ahead of its India debut. The Virtus is expected to be launched by the first quarter of 2022 at aggressive pricing.
It is official that Skoda India is developing an all-new sedan based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which will be positioned above the Rapid. The new C-Segment sedan is likely to make its debut by the end of this year. Also, Volkswagen is all set to bring in its version of the same sedan.
Volkswagen will position its new sedan above the Vento and will price it in between the Rs 11 and 16 lakh range (ex-showroom). The new sedan will be offered in multiple engine options. The more affordable variants are likely to be equipped with the 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that is also available in the outgoing Polo and Vento. The higher variants are likely to get the brand’s 1.5 TSI Evo engine, which powers the T-Roc and the upcoming Taigun.
A standard six-speed manual gearbox will be on offer, but for buyers opting for more convenience, Volkswagen will offer an automatic gearbox in a few variants.
Features such as cooled seats, an all-digital instrument cluster, and a single-pane sunroof are likely to make their way into the car. Expect it to have similar connected tech as the new Taigun. Volkswagen India has trademarked the name Virtus, which is most likely the new name of this new upcoming sedan.
