Volkswagen’s new mid-size sedan will be showcased very soon. But still, it's not clear if the brand plans to retail the new sedan and the Vento simultaneously.
The Skoda Slavia has been unveiled, and the wait for the official price announcement has begun. Volkswagen’s version of the same will be revealed in the first quarter of the next year. The firm has also confirmed that the launch of this new mid-size sedan will take place sometime in Q2 of 2022.
There are good chances that the new mid-size sedan will replace the Vento in Volkswagen India’s portfolio. The new sedan could be christened the ‘Virtus’ and will be positioned alongside the Slavia in terms of pricing, features, and equipment.
Just like the Slavia, the upcoming Virtus will be available with only petrol engine options. The gives a clear advantage to the Hyundai Verna and the Honda City, which can still be had with a diesel mill. The engines on offer will be 1.0-litre three-pot petrol and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit, both of which will be turbocharged.
The upcoming Volkswagen mid-size sedan is likely to be priced between Rs 9.50 lakh and Rs15.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The higher variants of the new VW sedan and the Slavia are likely to be in the same price range as the Hyundai Elantra.
