Toyota has a considerable number of well-liked models in its Indian portfolio, ranging from the Innova Hycross to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. In June of this year, the prominent auto company registered sales of 19,608 vehicles, encompassing 1,371 exports and 18,237 domestic deliveries. Although there was an increase of 19% from June 2022, the firm's sales results were still behind those from May 2023, when the automaker managed to reach its greatest monthly sales record of 20,410 units. However, in half-yearly and quarterly sales, the firm performed well compared to the last year. It sold 1,02,371 vehicles in the first half of 2023, exhibiting a 36% boost from the 75,017 units sold in the same period the previous year.

The quarterly sales for April through June of this year, on the other hand, counted 55,528 units, a 33% upsurge over the 41,813 units delivered during the same period last year. To further strengthen its sales game in the Indian auto segment, the automaker has plans to launch a few new models. Toyota took wraps off the new-generation model of the Vellfire luxury MPV for the global market in the last month. Even though the firm hasn't revealed the launch timeline of the model for India, it is expected to make its entry sometime around September, according to industry claims. The luxury model by Toyota is bolstered by the firm's TNGA-K modular platform. For India, the automaker will probably offer the MPV with a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol-hybrid drivetrain, capable of churning out a total output of 247bhp, mated to an e-CVT gearbox. Aside from this, the new Vellfire MPV also gets 2.4-litre petrol engine with 275bhp for the international market. This motor employs a CVT transmission.

In terms of features, the new-gen Vellfire, according to industry reports, will come equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technology. If the reports are accurate, it will become the first MPV in our market to offer the feature. Additionally, the revamped model will likely have Toyota's Safety Sense system, comprising amenities such as lane tracing assistance, remote parking, radar cruise control, and others.

Toyota is reportedly working on the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Rumors are widespread that the upcoming rebranded crossover by Toyota will be referred to as Taisor, and roll on our streets closer to the festive season. Appearance-wise, there might be a few cosmetic enhancements over the Fronx, on which it will be based, including the reworked bumper, and new grille with revamped headlights. However, inside, the speculated Toyota vehicle is expected to feature the same 9.0-inch HD Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a multi-functional steering wheel, automatic climate control, and other amenities.

As far as the powertrain is concerned, Toyota's version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx will offer the same choice of engines: A 1.2-litre Dual-Jet Dual-VVT petrol and a 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet petrol. As already mentioned, official details have not been revealed yet, but industry reports hint that Toyota's crossover may sport the lightweight Heartect platform that also underpins the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
