MG's Intelligent CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) – the Windsor EV – is set to launch in India on September 11. It is a cross between a hatchback and an MPV, measuring around 4,300mm in length. This makes the upcoming CUV slightly smaller than the Kia Carens and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The wheelbase of the MG Windsor EV stands at 2,700mm.
Being a rebadged version of the Wuling Cloud EV sold abroad, the Windsor EV is expected to have a big front fascia with a full-width LED light bar, closed-off grille, wide air dam, and projector headlamps. Elsewhere, the model could sport flush door handles, front door-mounted outside rearview mirrors, a wrap-around glasshouse, and an integrated spoiler. The alloy wheels could be 18-inch units with 215/55-section tyres.
MG Windsor EV: Features
MG's last teaser confirms the presence of a 3-passenger seat at the back with 3-point seat belts and adjustable headrests. The rear seats are said to recline up to 135 degrees. The Windsor EV will also offer rear air-con vents, a rear centre armrest, ambient lighting, and leather upholstery with quilt-like stitching.
The dashboard could feature a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a multifunction steering wheel, and horizontally-positioned AC vents. Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, automatic climate control, powered seats, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, and an ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) suite.
MG Windsor EV: Battery, Range
In the global market, there are two battery options on offer – 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh, sending power to a 134bhp, front-axle-mounted electric motor. The former yields a claimed range of 360km, while the latter offers a 460km range. It remains to be seen which of these versions will make its way to India.

The Windsor EV will be the brand's third electric offering for India. MG's India lineup currently comprises the Comet EV and the ZS EV. Market reports suggest that MG Motor India could position the Windsor EV competitively – under Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) – in terms of pricing. And for that, we expect the model to be heavily localised, including its battery pack. Upon arrival, the new Windsor EV will be a contender to the Tata Nexon EV, BYD e6, Mahindra XUV400, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX.
