Upcoming MG Cyberster Powertrain Details Revealed Ahead of India Launch

The India-spec MG Cyberster has a dual-motor setup with advanced tech including a waterfall oil-cooling system and 8-layer flat wire winding.

MG Motor India has revealed the power and torque figures of its upcoming Cyberster electric sportscar, which is slated to launch in January next year. Going by the video dropped by the company, the MG Cyberster features a dual-motor setup with advanced tech including a waterfall oil-cooling system and 8-layer flat wire winding, enabling the electric vehicle to make 503bhp (or 510PS) and 725Nm of peak torque. The battery is a 77kWh unit with a range of 580km (CLTC). 0–100km/h comes up in around 3.2 seconds. The international-spec model also comes with a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive setup with 308bhp and 475Nm. It remains to be seen if this option will be offered here. 

The India-spec MG Cyberster also gets a front double wishbone suspension and a rear five-link independent suspension for handling and stability, and boasts of a balanced 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution.

MG Cyberster: Exterior

Tuned by former Italian Formula 1 engineer Marco Fainello, the Cyberster has an aerodynamic 'Kammback' design, marked out by the vehicle's sloping roofline and truncated rear-end styling. The sportscar also stands out with a distinctive low nose, sleek LED headlights (with Daytime Running Lamps), a contoured bonnet, and a split air intake up front. The curvaceous rear end features arrow-shaped tail lamps, while the side profile is shaped by bold lines, sharp creases, and diamond-cut alloy wheels. Rounding out the highlights are the powered scissor doors, through which owners can access a driver-focused cabin. MG's

The scissor doors are a novelty feature and come equipped with built-in Dual Radar sensors, ensuring protection while opening upwards or sideways. There is also an anti-pinch bounce-back feature for added safety. MG's first electric sportscar, the Cyberster, will be available through JSW MG Motor India's all-new retail channel known as MG Select. 

MG Cyberster: Features

The MG Cyberster sports three wraparound digital displays, including a vertically stacked infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable ventilated seats, a retractable roof, and a premium Bose sound system also form part of the features list. Safety equipment includes multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The Cyberster is expected to arrive as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) on the Indian market, with prices anticipated to start at Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom). It will have no direct rivals.
