Maruti Suzuki is preparing to release three new products for the Indian market, with one among them being an electric SUV. Set to launch in 2024 and beyond are the brand-new evX as well as the fourth-generation Swift and Dzire. While the eVX will be the company's first born-electric SUV, the other two will be upgrades to existing models. Now, let's take a detailed look at each of these models:
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift
One of the most popular hatchbacks from the Maruti Suzuki stable, the Swift, is gearing up for its market entry in a new avatar. The early 2024 will likely see its launch in India. The details were revealed at the recently held Tokyo Motor Show where the fourth-generation Swift debuted.

Having said that, the production-spec Swift is expected to retain the same silhouette. However, it will likely receive some modifications in the form of a redesigned grille, sharper headlamps and taillamps, revised bumpers, a new set of alloy wheels, and more. The changes will continue inside, with a floating touchscreen infotainment system, a new console for AC functions, a 3-spoke steering wheel, and others. While the model at the motor show had ADAS features and rear disc brakes, it is unlikely that the India-spec Swift will get the same.
Powering the 2024 Swift will be a brand-new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. With its dual-purpose architecture, this engine is anticipated to deliver optimal fuel efficiency and better low-end torque for urban driving. Expect the vehicle to get manual and automatic gearbox options.
With all these upgrades, the new Swift is estimated to range between Rs 6 and Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). Other than a petrol powertrain, a powerful hybrid powertrain is likely on the cards.
Maruti Suzuki eVX
The new eVX will kick off the company's electric vehicle offensive. Slated for a market launch in 2025, the eVX mid-size SUV will be manufactured at Suzuki Motor Gujarat’s Hansalpur facility. On the outside, the SUV will closely resemble the Grand Vitara SUV, and will have a coupe-like rear end. Speaking of exterior bits, the spied test mule that was spotted in India for the first time revealed its upright front fascia with LED projector headlights, a wide air intake, and a closed-off grille. On the inside, expect the SUV to feature a 360-degree camera, a big infotainment display, a new steering wheel, powered front seats, and ADAS tech.
Two battery pack options are anticipated for the Maruti Suzuki eVX: a 48kWh unit for the base version and a 60kWh unit for the higher-spec variants. The upcoming eVX will sit on Toyota’s 27PL skateboard platform that will underpin other future EVs such as a Toyota-badged version of the eVX.
New Maruti Suzuki Dzire
The market introduction of the fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire is expected to take place after the arrival of the 2024 Swift. Based on its hatchback sibling, the new Dzire will get the same 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine as the Swift. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. Apart from that, there will be updates to the exterior and interior as well.
