So, here is the list of the top four upcoming cars in September.

Tata Curvv ICE

Tata Motors will reveal prices for the Currv ICE in India on September 2, 2024, after the Curvv EV's launch last month. The ICE-powered SUV Coupe is available in four different variants: Smart, Pure, Creative, and Accomplished. It is based on the company's ATLAS (Adaptive Tech Forward Lifestyle Architecture) platform, which supports multiple powertrains.

The SUV has three engine options – a new 1.2-litre direct injection turbocharged petrol engine (Hyperion), a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (Revotron), and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. The latter two are also offered with the Nexon. The transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Features-wise, the ICE-based Curvv has a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated front seats, a reclining rear seat, a panoramic sunroof, and a 9-speaker sound system. It includes ABS with EBD, parking sensors (both front and rear), six airbags, electronic stability control, and Level 2 ADAS for safety. Although the pricing announcement is yet to come, market estimations indicate that the SUV is likely to start at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680

Mercedes Maybach EQS

Mercedes-Maybach is all set to introduce its all-electric EQS SUV in India on September 5, 2024. Although the exact specifications are unknown, we expect the EV to be offered in the 680 version, which made its debut at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show in China. Internationally, the EQS 680 has a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, similar to the one found on the EQS 580 SUV. The power output is rated at 649bhp and 950Nm, while the claimed range stands at 600 kilometres, with a 107.8kWh battery pack. With the upgraded powertrain, the SUV claims a top speed of 210km/h and a 0 – 100km/h sprint time of 4.4, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the EQS 580.

The global-spec e-SUV has a 15-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system, active ambient lighting with 253 LEDs and 64 selectable colours, Nappa upholstered seats, a second-row bench seat, rear-seat controls for infotainment functions, a 360-degree camera, and an ADAS suite. While there is no confirmation, it's quite possible that these features may find their way into the India-spec model. In terms of pricing, the EQS is likely to be priced at around Rs 4 crore (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

Hyundai ALcazar Facelift

The Hyundai Alcazar Facelift is set to go on sale in India on September 9, 2024, with an updated exterior and interior, while maintaining the same engine options. It now features an LED light bar, H-shaped LED DRLs, a redesigned grille new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and connected LED taillights. Inside, the SUV has a Bose music system, automatic climate control, multi-colour ambient lighting, and a 10.25-inch dual-screen setup (one for the infotainment and the other for the digital instrument cluster).

For safety, Hyundai has fitted the new Alcazar with 40 standard safety features and over 70 total safety features, including ADAS.

The new Alcazar can be had with either a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit or a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The former churns out 157.8bhp and 253Nm, while the latter produces 114.4bhp and 250Nm. The transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 6AT, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The SUV is expected to be priced at around Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom).

MG Windsor EV

MG Windsor EV

The Windsor is MG's third electric and first intelligent CUV for India, scheduled to be launched on 11 September 2024. Though most of the details are under wraps, the car is likely to have specifications similar to its overseas-sold Donar model, the Wuling Cloud EV. Globally, the EV is offered with two battery options  –  37.9kWh and 50.6kWh – and a front-axle-mounted electric motor, producing 134bhp. Currently, there is no confirmation, but the India-spec model could get the larger battery version, which offers a range of 460 kilometres.

For safety, MG Motor India's first Intelligent CUV is expected to have ABS with EBD, parking sensors (both front and rear), ADAS, and a 360-degree camera. It is confirmed to come with a range of conveniences like adjustable headrests and a 3-passenger rear seat with 3-point seat belts, among others. In terms of pricing, the MG Windsor is expected to cost less than Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
