We are now three months into 2024 and till now, there have been several notable developments in the Indian automotive industry. A new month and most importantly, the next financial year is about to begin with its fair share of car debuts. April will witness the arrival of some of the much-awaited models from major car manufacturers. From Toyota to Tata Motors, and from Skoda to Mahindra, everyone is gearing up to put their best foot forward with a range of exciting products. There will be something for everyone, ranging from a feature-loaded appealing SUV to a premium sedan. So, if you are planning your next car purchase, here's a closer look at all the new options coming your way next month.
Skoda Superb
Skoda Auto is set to reintroduce the third-generation Superb in India on April 3. Notably, it will be available in a single top-spec Laurin & Klement variant with enhanced features and improved ADAS tech. Earlier, the sedan along with the Rapid, was discontinued here due to poor sales. The updated Superb was recently unveiled for the international market and is anticipated to arrive in India through the CBU route. This variant will likely have premium features such as 17-inch Stratos alloy wheels for a sporty appearance, LED fog lights with cornering function, and adaptive auto LED headlights. The car will be offered in three colour options: Rosso Brunello, Water World Green, and Magic Black. The Superb is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine capable of producing 188bhp and 320Nm of peak torque. As the model will now be fully imported, expect the car to carry an ex-showroom price tag of approximately Rs 55 lakh.
Mahindra XUV300 Facelift
Mahindra will likely introduce the redesigned XUV300, its smallest SUV next month. The design and functionality of the SUV, which is undergoing extensive testing in preparation for release, will change in many ways. New LED headlamps and DRL units, a reworked front grille and bumper, a new LED taillight at the back, and fresh alloy wheels are all anticipated features of the facelifted model. A new digital instrument cluster and a larger floating touchscreen infotainment unit will be added to the cabin. The updated XUV300 may be the first SUV in its class to be equipped with a panoramic sunroof. The Indian automaker won't be making any changes to the engine lineup and might continue with the 1.5-litre diesel and 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engines.
Toyota Taisor
Toyota is going to launch its first model this year, another rebadged Maruti Suzuki car. The Taisor, set to arrive on the market on April 3, will be the Japanese brand's fourth rebadged Maruti vehicle in India. It is anticipated that the Taisor SUV will retain the majority of Fronx's design features. But Toyota is probably going to alter the alloy, bumper, and grille layouts. The Toyota emblem and the Urban Cruiser Taisor badging are two obvious modifications. Under the bonnet, Toyota will likely employ the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol mill found in the Fronx in addition to the 1.0-litre Booster Jet turbo unit. Toyota might pair the Taisor with a hybrid drivetrain. Along with the Fronx, the Taisor will face off against the Hyundai Exter and the Tata Punch.
Tata Altroz Racer
Following its debut at the Auto Expo over a year ago, Tata Motors is expected to launch the Altroz Racer in April. It is a more potent variant of the Altroz iTurbo and standard Altroz hatchback. It is driven by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit with a maximum torque of 170Nm and 120bhp of peak power. Additionally, a new gearbox with a six-speed transmission will offered with the model. One of the most significant design modifications to the hatchback will be the inclusion of race graphics. When it comes to the interior, bucket seats with a racing theme and a larger screen are on the list of updates as well. Upon launch, the new Tata model will compete against the likes of the Hyundai i20 N Line.
