It's already known that Toyota will unveil the Taisor on April 3 in the Indian market. Now, a set of teaser images put up by the company has previewed the design of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Fronx-based crossover. The teaser suggests that the Toyota Taisor will get a revised grille, an all-new bumper, and redesigned headlamps with new LED daytime running lamp signatures. In profile, the car features a new pair of alloy wheels and body-coloured door handles. While the rear end is not visible, one can expect new tail lamps and a revised bumper.
Having said that, the new Toyota Taisor will get a dashboard similar to the Fronx, albeit in new colours. Features-wise, the rebadged Fronx will carry over a 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, a multi-functional steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, rear AC vents, a wireless charger, automatic climate control, cruise control, and ambient lighting. However, the seat upholstery could be the differentiator between the Taisor and the Fronx.

Toyota Taisor: Safety suite
Safety-wise, expect the crossover to be equipped with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, ESP with Hill Hold Assist & Rollover Mitigation, three-point ELR seatbelts, a 360-degree surround camera, and parking sensors.
Toyota Taisor: Powertrain Options
Under the hood, the Toyota Taisor will likely get the same engine options as the Maruti Suzuki Fronx – an all-new 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet petrol engine and a 1.2-litre Dual-Jet Dual-VVT petrol. The former delivers 99bhp at 5,500rpm and 147.6Nm of torque between 2,000 and 4,500rpm, whereas the latter makes 89bhp at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. Both units come with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. Other options are a 6-speed automatic and a 5-speed AMT.
Besides, we expect Toyota to offer the CNG-powered Taisor at a later date. The CNG version of the Taisor could get the same 1.2-litre, K-Series, DualJet, Dual VVT petrol engine as the Fronx. Speaking of the Fronx, Maruti Suzuki launched the crossover with a factory-installed CNG kit in July 2023. Paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, the Fronx S-CNG churns out 76bhp and 98.5Nm of peak torque.
Toyota Taisor: Price, Rivals
Price-wise, the new Toyota Taisor will likely command a premium over the Fronx, which currently retails at Rs 7.51 lakh (starting price, ex-showroom). In terms of market rivalry, the Toyota crossover will face off against the Tata Nexon, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the Hyundai Venue, the Mahindra XUV300, and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
