The aging Toyota Etios gets a better equipped special edition variant.
Toyota has silently launched a special Limited Edition variant of its Platinum Etios. The petrol model is priced at Rs. 7.84 lakh, while the diesel costs Rs 8.94. lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
Based on the VX trim, the special edition sports a range of new features including an exclusive Phantom Brown exterior colour option. However, alongside the new shade, the variant is also offered in regular silver and white colours.
In terms of additional equipment, the Limited Edition model gains dual-tone seats and a new armrest. Also standard is a 6.8-inch touchscreen multimedia system with USB, AUX, Bluetooth, voice recognition, remote control, CD player and FM/AM radio. Smartphone integration via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay is, however, absent.
The Toyota Platinum Etios is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 89bhp of power and 132Nm of torque. There is also a diesel option that uses a 1.4-litre engine good for 67bhp and 170Nm. A 5-speed manual transmission comes standard irrespective of the engine chosen.
Toyota is expected not to launch a new-generation of the Etios once the current car reaches the end of its life cycle. However, the company is rumoured to launch another facelift of the car by this year’s end. Right now, the Japanese carmaker is gearing up to launch a more premium Yaris in the coming months.
