The off-road obstacle course was designed exclusively for the current and potential Fortuner owners.

Toyota India organised an exclusive Fortuner off-road camp in Gurugram to demonstrate the SUV’s off-roading prowess.

This off-road camp gave existing and potential Fortuner customers an opportunity to experience a simulated all-terrain track ridden with steep inclines & descents, slush pit, gravel pit and deep water to experience the on- and off-roading capabilities of the Fortuner.

Current and potential Fortuner owners were required to register for the camp through Toyota dealerships to be eligible for an invite. Then, a selected number of registered owners were sent an invitation to attend the camp. All the guests were briefed by experienced off-road enthusiasts and then were given a chance to go behind the wheel themselves.

The Fortuner variant which was used for this purpose was the 2.8 4x4 AT, which is powered by a 2,755cc diesel engine making 174bhp of power and 420Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Toyota’s focus was to make the owners aware of the various safety and off-road aids that the SUV comes fitted with, which includes Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), Downhill Assist Control (DAC) and Active Traction Control (A-TRC), among many others.

Sharing his thoughts on the event, N. Raja, Deputy Managing Director, Sales & Service, Toyota India, said, ‘The Fortuner, time and again has proved its meticulousness in adapting to most demanding and unconventional of terrains. Since its launch in 2009, Fortuner has received wide acclaim and popularity in India, for its on-road as well as off-road abilities that have been loved by one and all. We at Toyota, consistently work on observing various changes in the market and augment our products on the basis of customer requirements.’

The Toyota Fortuner range starts at Rs. 26.20 lakh for the base 4x2 petrol manual variant and goes all the way up to Rs. 31.99 lakh for the 4x4 diesel automatic variant. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
