Toyota will drop covers from the Innova Hycross tomorrow in India. Bookings for the new MPV will begin early in 2023.
The Toyota Innova Hycross is one of the most awaited launches in India. And it's all set to make its India debut tomorrow. After being showcased a few days ago in Indonesia, it'll arrive on Indian shores ahead of its market launch in 2023. So, let's look at some of the things that we can expect from Toyota’s new MPV with hybrid technology.
The Innova Hycross is based on a monocoque architecture. It has ditched the rear-wheel-drive ladder frame of its predecessor in favour of a more car-like monocoque construction with a front-wheel-drive setup. It's also underpinned by an all-new TNGA-C platform. Also, it's longer than the current Innova Crysta.
The Innova Hycross will be offered with both petrol and hybrid engine choices. It's powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine, which works in conjunction with an electric motor. Plus, the car can also run in an EV-only mode. The engine will be paired to an e-CVT gearbox. Thanks to its strong hybrid tech, it's expected to offer a fuel efficiency of around 20 – 23 km/l, making it significantly more efficient than the outgoing Crysta's petrol and diesel powertrains. As for its lower variants, expect the same 2.0-litre petrol engine in a non-hybrid avatar, with a CVT automatic transmission.
The Toyota Innova Hycross will also become the first Toyota product in India to have ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) features, which include lane-keep assistance, adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, forward collision warning, and adaptive cruise control.
The Hycross's interior is expected to be revamped thoroughly. The dashboard will include a new design with a floating 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a smaller 7-inch TFT MID.
The prices of the Hycross are expected to fall between Rs 21 and 28 lakh (ex-showroom).
