Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is all set to introduce a new top-spec non-hybrid variant of the Innova Hycross in India. Although the exact launch date is unknown, rumours indicate that it will go on sale in the first week of April. Bookings for the new trim can be made via Toyota's official India website for a token amount of Rs 50,000. The premium MPV is currently available in GX, VX, VX(O), ZX, and ZX(O) trim levels. Since its launch, the Hycross has become significantly popular among Indian car buyers. The upcoming range-topping variant, driven by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol mill, is expected to close the approximately Rs 7 lakh price difference between the Innova Hycross's non-hybrid and strong hybrid versions. The new GX(O) non-hybrid will be positioned between the petrol-only GX grade and the powerful hybrid VX trim levels and will get a slew of additional features to account for the price hike.
Toyota Innova Hycross GX(O): Feature List
The new GX(O) will have additional exterior features in comparison to the current GX model, including a rear window demister and front LED fog lamps. It will also come loaded with features such as a driver seat that can be raised or lowered and automatic climate control with an auto blower for the back seat. On top of that, the 7-seat model will have soft-touch materials for the dashboard, dual-tone fabric upholstery, second-row captain chairs with retractable sun shades for the back windows, wireless Apple CarPlay, a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment panel, and a 360-degree camera.
The new GX(O) variant's safety package includes a wide-view rear-view parking camera with front and rear parking sensors, vehicle stability control (VSC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ABS with EBD, hill assist control (HAC), and six airbags.
Toyota Innova Hycross GX(O): Powertrain Options
The Hycross is front-wheel drive, as it is built on the TNGA-C monocoque platform. Under the hood, a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol unit with a peak power output of 173bhp and 209Nm of torque will power the new Innova Hycross GX(O) variant. The engine will be mated to a CVT automatic transmission as standard. The strong hybrid models, on the other hand, are propelled by a 2.0-litre petrol-hybrid mill, which produces 182bhp of power. In this case, an eCVT automatic transmission that doubles as a starter generator is coupled with the motor. The hybrid powertrain's key selling point is its fuel efficiency – it offers a mileage of 23.24km/l. The petrol version, on the other hand, offers a mileage of 16.13km/l.
Toyota Innova Hycross: Price Range and Competition Check
The firm has not disclosed the price of the Innova Hycross GX(O) yet. The entry-level GX variant of the model costs Rs 19.77 lakh. The G variant is solely available for commercial purposes. Starting at Rs 25.72 lakh, the hybrid range of the Hycross goes up to Rs 30.68 lakh for the ZX(O) version. Lastly, the GX(O) variant is expected to retail at Rs 21 lakh. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures.
The Innova Hycross currently has no direct competitors in the premium MPV sector. However, it goes head-to-head against three-row SUVs, like the Mahindra XUV700, the Tata Safari, and the MG Hector Plus.
