Toyota Hilux: Design, Platform and Dimensions
The Hilux is available in the country with a double-cab body style. It has a sizable hexagonal chrome grille up front, along with swept-back LED headlamps. To further emphasise its tough, off-road appeal in profile, it receives beefy, black plastic cladding over the wheel arches. The Hilux has a simple rear end and resembles a typical pickup truck, but it also has a lot of chrome.
The Hilux and the Fortuner have similar underpinnings in addition to their similar designs. Both use Toyota's IMV ladder-frame chassis. The Hilux is one of the largest cars sold in India, measuring 5,325mm in length, 1,855mm in width, 1,815mm in height, and 3,085mm in wheelbase.
Toyota Hilux: Engine and Gearbox
The Toyota Hilux is powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 201bhp of maximum power and 420Nm of peak torque in MT variants and 500Nm of torque in AT variants. Both a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission are included with the engine. The Toyota Hilux also features front and rear electronic differential locks in addition to a 4X4 drive system as standard equipment.
Toyota Hilux: Interior and Features
The trim and switchgear on the Hilux's interior are quite similar to those on the Fortuner. It comes with the same touchscreen, climate control panel, instrument cluster, steering wheel, and front seats despite having a slightly different dashboard layout. In addition to an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, an electrochromic interior rearview mirror, a tyre angle monitor, active traction control, and an automated limited-slip differential are all standard on the Hilux.
