The larger 73.1kWh option delivers 221bhp with front-wheel drive and a range of 573 kilometres, and 338bhp with all-wheel-drive and 520 kilometres. Toyota has also improved the energy density and cell count of both batteries and upgraded the electric motors with silicon carbide semiconductors for better efficiency.

The updated electric SUV offers improved charging features, including a battery pre-conditioning system that optimises charging efficiency in cold temperatures.

Toyota bZ4X Facelift: Design and Other Highlights

Toyota has introduced some noticeable design updates to its electric SUV for an improved visual appeal. The standout change is the bold ‘hammer-head’ design, and angular V-shaped LED daytime running lights on either side of a sleek grille, a signature look found on other recent Toyota models. The headlights are now separate and higher on the bumper, while the side and rear design stays mostly the same.

Inside, Toyota has focused on simplicity and ease of use. The dashboard now features a fresh, stacked design, and the previous ‘jet cockpit’ display is replaced with a more conventional screen. While the larger touchscreen takes care of most controls, the yoke steering wheel seems to be removed for a more traditional driving experience. Moreover, the gear selector is moved back, freeing up space for two wireless phone chargers.
