After the Delta and Zeta variants, the top-end Alpha variant is to join the CNG-powered Maruti Suzuki Baleno line-up.
Maruti Suzuki is planning to expand its CNG line-up for the Baleno. In October 2022, the company launched CNG-powered Baleno in two trims, namely Delta and Zeta, costing ₹8.28 lakh (ex-showroom) and ₹9.21 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. The new variant will be based on the top-of-the-line Alpha trim of the Baleno.
Details about the new variant, however, are not fully revealed by the company. We expect it to maintain similar equipment levels as its existing petrol version. This means that it is likely to feature an Arkamys sound system, six airbags, an auto-dimming IRVM, a 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with SmartPlay Pro+ system, a head-up display, 360-degree cameras, and Suzuki Connect connected car technology.
For those unaware, the same 1.2-litre petrol engine that powers the petrol hatchback is used in the Baleno CNG. It produces 89bhp and 113Nm of torque in petrol mode and 76bhp and 98.5Nm in CNG mode. According to the company, this model can offer 30.61km/kg of fuel economy.
The Baleno Alpha CNG is most likely to be ₹95,000 more expensive than the petrol-powered Alpha trim and, therefore, will cost around ₹10.16 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
