Renault has given the upcoming Duster a cosmetic makeover, more equipment and an automatic gearbox
The launch of the face-lifted Renault Duster is now around the corner, with the French car maker having showcased it at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. The Renault Duster face-lift has not only been given an exterior make over but also comes with some significant changes to take newer rivals such as the Hyundai Creta and Mahindra Scorpio which are stealing the show on the sales front.
Here is a look at some of the significant changes that aims to refresh the Duster’s appeal against its competition.
- Exterior styling updates: Renault has revised the front end of the updated Duster with a new chrome grille that has been seen on international models. The SUV also gets new head lamps (which Renault refers to as “hawk-eye” cluster headlamps) and a revised front bumper sporting a prominent silver faux bull bar. The side profile of the vehicle has been updated with new 16 inch black alloy wheels and new roof rails with Duster branding on them. Around the back, the face-lifted Duster gets new LED tail lamps that look more modern while the rear bumper gets a massive faux skid plate in the bottom centre section. The vehicle also gets a new exterior shade called Cayenne Orange.
- Interior updates: The interiors of the upcoming Renault Duster feature a dual tone colour theme with a light grey top section and beige lower section. Soft touch plastics have been incorporated into the dash board as well. The centre console also gets a piano black finish and a new storage space above the centre air vents.
- More equipment: Renault has also added more equipment to the upcoming version of the Duster in the form of an arm rest for the driver, climate control, rear view camera, auto-up / down function for the driver’s window, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs and an upgraded touchscreen infotainment system.
- New Gearbox: Renault will be offering the updated Duster with the option of an automatic gearbox in the 110PS model in the form of a six-speed automated manual transmission. While rivals such as the Creta automatic and Scorpio automatic get conventional automatic gearboxes, Renault has gone for a more cost effective AMT unit to keep prices in check.
