This segment of cars has a major share in the auto industry because many people prefer buying them owing to their rugged structure, high ground clearance, more space, and features. According to market reports, the SUV sector is booming almost every year with a range of new launches by leading carmakers. This year too, a slew of updated and new SUVs are all set to make their presence felt in India. Let's take a closer look at the top 5 SUVs that will grace the market packed with new features.
Hyundai Exter
Hyundai Exter has been revealed for our market, and bookings for the same are underway at Rs 11,000. The SUV portfolio of the company currently comprises the Alcazar, the Creta, the Venue, etc. Talking of the powertrain, a 1.2-litre petrol engine will drive the upcoming model, mated to either a five-speed manual or an AMT transmission. According to Hyundai, the Micro SUV will be available in five versions: EX, S, SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect. It will have six monotones and three dual-tone colour options, including the all-new Ranger Khaki and Cosmic Blue shades. Price announcement is yet to happen, however, market speculations say that the brand-new SUV by Hyundai will likely range between Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9.5 lakh (Both prices, ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki Jimny
Needless to cite, the upcoming Jimny, is one of the most awaited models in the country. Maruti Suzuki will reportedly launch the model later this month. Sporting the five-door body style, which is specifically for India, the model will likely fall under the price bracket of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 12 lakh. Prices are ex-showroom. Mechanically speaking, a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with 104bhp of maximum power and 134Nm of peak torque will be available with the SUV. The engine will come mated to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Honda Elevate
In a recent development, Honda officially disclosed the name of its mid-size SUV - the Elevate. Industry reports state that the new model would debut globally on June 6 in India before going on sale in August. In terms of the engine, the 1.5-litre Honda twin-cam petrol engine that also powers the City car will likely be used in the future Honda Elevate. This powertrain, which is available with the City, has a peak torque of 145Nm and a maximum power output of 119bhp.
Tata Nexon Facelift
The spy images of the Tata Nexon keep on popping up online, hinting that the carmaker is rigorously testing the model for our market and will soon launch it here. As far as the powertrain goes, there will likely be no modifications. The upcoming facelift model will probably continue with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, both accessible with a manual and an automatic gearbox. There is no official confirmation, however, industry reports claim that power outputs of these engines may improve. Kia Seltos Facelift

Mechanically, the 2023 Kia Seltos SUV is available internationally with two engine choices: a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit and a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine offers 146bhp and 179Nm, whereas, 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged unit delivers 195bhp and 264Nm. Both iMT and DCT gearboxes are available as options.
