A lot of automakers, such as Kia, Tata Motors, and Mahindra, are preparing to push their EV game in India by rolling out some of their much-anticipated electric vehicles. It's amazing to note that many of these awaited vehicles have been spotted undergoing road trials multiple times, both in India and other countries, revealing vital information. Electric four-wheelers are undoubtedly becoming serious competitors to their petrol-powered counterparts owing to enhanced utility, efficiency, and aesthetics. We've put together a list of the top 5 upcoming electric cars that will be available for purchase in India soon. These e-cars are anticipated to provide plenty of new features for prospective buyers. Kia EV9
The India-bound EV9 will probably arrive on our shores sometime next year. Although Kia hasn't yet announced anything about the India-spec version, the car is said to be the brand's biggest and the costliest SUV, with an expected price tag of around Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom). The EV9 is offered globally in both RWD and AWD configurations. With a 76.1kWh battery, the base RWD variant produces 218bhp and 350Nm. This setup allows the car to reach a speed of 100km/h per hour in 8.2 seconds from a standstill. In contrast, the RWD Long Range variant with a 99.8kWh battery produces 350Nm and 204bhp. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 9.4 seconds.

Regarding the technical specifications of the AWD version, its mechanical components comprise two motors, one for each axle, and a 99.8kWh battery pack. This particular version boasts 600Nm and 380bhp, and it can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds (or 5.3 seconds with an over-the-air software update). While there is no formal confirmation, the long-range model is expected to be available for the Indian market.
Maruti Suzuki eVX
The eVX electric SUV and the Swift Concept were among the biggest attractions at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. Even though the eVX concept had already been shown at the Auto Expo in India, the version that was revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show included significantly altered aesthetic features. Talking specifically of the India-spec model, the eVX SUV is anticipated to arrive on Indian roads next year with many features, such as ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, two-spoke steering wheel, touch-based controls for the AC vents, horizontally positioned air conditioning vents, a large touchscreen infotainment system, and more.
Regarding the mechanical specifics, Maruti Suzuki revealed that the eVX concept includes a 60kWh lithium-ion battery pack during the debut. However, they didn't provide any particulars on the battery pack of the production version of the car. According to industry reports, the upcoming production-spec eVX could be equipped with a 48kWh battery, which is smaller yet offers a driving range of about 400 kilometres.
Toyota Urban SUV
In concept form, the new Toyota Urban SUV made its European debut. It is one of the company's upcoming six-model dedicated BEV series and is based on the Maruti Suzuki eVX. While no specific information has been released by Toyota, industry speculations indicate that the production-spec of the electric SUV might arrive in the country next year, after the production model of the Suzuki eVX. Toyota disclosed that the SUV concept will be available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive choices. It will furthermore include two battery configurations that will satisfy the different requirements of customers in terms of accessibility and driving range.
Tata Curvv EV
The eagerly-anticipated Curvv in its electric guise is probably going to make its entry in India in 2024. Though there are no exact details, the car is said to be based on the manufacturer's Gen2 platform. Its stated range will most likely be between 400 and 500 kilometres. In terms of market competition, the Curvv will face off against EVs such as the upcoming Hyundai Creta, the MG ZS EV, and more. The equipment list of the electric Curvv will presumably comprise a two-spoke steering wheel, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and six airbags.

Mahindra XUV.e8
It has been seen several times in India, the most recent being last month. The spy photos highlighted some of the vehicle's main aesthetic facets, including the split LED headlight system with its pod-like design and the vertically stacked LED light bar for daytime running. It is anticipated to have a range of about 450 kilometres and measurements similar to the XUV700, on which it is based. There is no confirmation at this moment, but the upcoming Mahindra XUV.e8 is expected to have an 80kWh battery pack that can produce power output between 230bhp and 345bhp. Price-wise, the XUV.e8 might retail from Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom)
