Here is a look at the highlights of the new Honda BR-V crossover
Honda India’s latest offering, the BR-V crossover is priced in the range of Rs. 8.75 lakh to Rs. 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and takes on popular rivals from small SUVs to mid-size sedans. At the core of developing the new BR-V was space and practicality for Honda, in order to develop a great family vehicle. And to a large extent, Honda has managed to do just that. Here is a look at some of the highlights of the BR-V.
- Space and practicality: The Honda BR-V is an extremely spacious car with a length of 4,456mm. It comes with three rows of seats that can seat seven people and the cabin has an airy ambience despite the all-black trim. With all three rows of seats up you get a decent 223 litres of boot space. Fold the last row down and you get a massive 691 litres of boot space. Which is more than plenty for long distance trips.
- Powertrain choices: Honda is offering the BR-V with a choice of a 1.5 litre petrol engine and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. Both engines are available with a six-speed manual gearbox while the petrol is also available with the choice of a CVT automatic transmission as well.
- Efficient powertrain: When the BR-V is compared against other crossovers and SUVs in its segment, it is one of the most efficient with an ARAI claimed 21.9 km/l for the diesel model. The petrol manual model is rated at 15.4 km/l while the automatic model is rated at 16 km/l.
- Standard safety features: The Honda BR-V is being offered with ABS with EBD and dual front airbags as standard.
- Equipment: One area where the BR-V could have been improved is in terms of equipment. Even the top end models only get climate control, Bluetooth equipped stereo, power windows, rear defogger and wash wipe, etc. Whereas rivals are being offered with touchscreen infotainment systems with satellite navigation, keyless entry and lots more. The good part is that Honda is offering a lot of equipment as standard from the second-from-base variant onwards.
