Rising fuel prices in India have been plaguing the industry and consumers alike. While the electric revolution has been underway for some time in India, the chapter toward alternate fuels started with the adoption of CNG cars in the country. Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG
Maruti Suzuki recently launched the Swift with a CNG powertrain. CNG option on the car will be available in just two tris – VXI and ZXI. Prices for the car start at Rs 7.77 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up t Rs 8.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
The car is powered by the same 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 90hp and 113Nm of torque. In the CNG mode, the car delivers 77hp and 98.5Nm of torque. Maruti Suzuki claims that the car will return an efficiency of 30.90km/kg.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG
CNG options on the Ertiga are available on the VXI and ZXI variants with prices starting at Rs 10.44 lakh (ex-showroom) and going up to Rs 11.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
The MPV can be had with the regular 1.5-litre engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission in both petrol and CNG options. While the petrol version outputs 99bhp at 6,000rpm and 136Nm of torque at 4,400rpm, the CNG option produces 87bhp at 5,500rpm and 121.5Nm of torque at 4,200rpm.
Hyundai Aura CNG
Hyundai is offering a CNG option on the Aura in two trims – S and SX. Prices for the same start at Rs 7.87 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 8.57 lakh (ex-showroom).
At its heart, the Aura CNG gets a 1.2-litre Kappa Dual VTVT Bi-Fuel (Petrol CNG) engine that is capable of outputting a maximum of 68bhp at 6,000 rpm and 95.12Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.
Hyundai Santro CNG
The Santro gets CNG options in its Magna and Sportz trims. The price for the CNG variants starts at Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 6.41 lakh (ex-showroom).
In terms of powertrain, the car gets the 1 Epsilon MPi CNG engine is capable of a maximum power of 68bhp at 5,500 rpm (for Petrol) and 59bhp at 5,500 rpm (for CNG) and 99Nm torque at 4,500 rpm (for Petrol) and 85.3Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm (for CNG).
Tata Tiago CNG
Tata offers the widest range of CNG options on the Tiago. The option is in the XE, XT, XM and XZ Plus variants. Price for the same starts at Rs 6.30 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 7.82 lakh (ex-showroom).
At its heart, the car comes with a 1.2-litre Revotron engine that outputs 72.3bhp and 95Nm of torque in CNG mode.
