Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate the market, with three of its models in the top 5 best-sellers. Alongside them, models from Tata Motors and Hyundai were also on the list, with the Hyundai Creta being the best-selling SUV. The changing sales trends in India show a rising demand for cars that balance practicality, affordability, and modern design with advanced features. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R was the best-selling car in January with 24,078 units sold, marking an impressive 35.60% year-on-year growth compared to the 17,756 units sold in January 2024. Its popularity among Indian buyers is driven by its practicality, spaciousness, and reliability. Priced between Rs 5.55 lakh and Rs 7.33 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Wagon R comes with a single 1-litre naturally aspirated (N/A) engine.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno sold 19,965 units in January, reflecting a modest growth of 1.71% from the 19,630 units sold last year. Its position as the second-best seller underscores its appeal as a premium hatchback, offering a sleek design, well-equipped interior, and impressive fuel efficiency. Priced between Rs 6.66 lakh and Rs 9.83 lakh, the Baleno comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine, available in both petrol and CNG variants.
Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta was the third best-selling car overall and the top-selling SUV in India for January 2025. It sold 18,522 units, reflecting a strong 40.19% growth from 13,212 units in January 2024. The Creta is available with three engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel, and a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Priced between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 20.15 lakh, the Creta continues to be a favourite with its bold design, spacious interiors, and advanced features, making it a top choice for SUV enthusiasts across the country.
Maruti Suzuki Swift

The Maruti Suzuki Swift sold 17,081 units in January, showing an 11.13% year-on-year growth from 15,370 units in January 2024. Praised for its compact size, smooth handling, and affordable pricing, the Swift remains a top choice for urban drivers. Recently, Maruti Suzuki updated prices for select variants of the fourth-generation Swift, which went on sale in May last year. The VXi AMT, VXi (O) AMT, ZXi AMT, ZXi+ AMT, and ZXi+ dual-tone AMT trims saw a Rs 5,000 price hike, while other versions stayed the same. With the revised pricing, the Swift now ranges from Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 9.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The hatchback is powered by the Z-series 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine.
Tata Punch

Despite a 9.72% year-on-year decline, the Tata Punch still managed to secure a spot in the top 5 list for January, with 16,231 units sold. This marks a decrease of 1,747 units from the 17,978 sold in January 2024. The Punch offers multiple powertrain options, including petrol, petrol-CNG, and electric.
