In July 2024, Maruti Suzuki remained the best-selling car brand, with 1.37 lakh units sold. It was followed by Hyundai and Tata Motors, which sold 49,013 units, and 44,727 units, respectively. In the April-June quarter of FY 2024-25, Maruti Suzuki announced a net profit of Rs 3,649.90 crore, representing an increase of 46.9% from Rs 2,485.1 crore registered the year before. The company's net sales for the period reached Rs 33,875 crore, a substantial increase over the first quarter of FY2023–2024. Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki saw a 9.6% year-over-year decline in July of this year. For comparison, it sold 1.52 lakh units in July 2023. The company sells an array of cars, including hatchbacks, sedans, and SUVs in our market. It recently recalled its best-selling hatch, the Alto K10, due to a potential issue in the steering gearbox unit.

Hyundai
In July, Hyundai ranked as the second-best-selling automaker. It recorded a YoY de-growth of 3.3% and a market share of 14.29%. Notably, the Creta from the automaker's SUV lineup was the best-selling car last month. It sold 17,350 units, representing a 23% increase from 14,062 units supplied during the same period in 2023.
Tata Motors
Tata Motors reported lower sales in July of this year compared to last year, similar to Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. It had a YoY decline of 6.1% and a market share of 13.04%. On the other hand, the Tata Punch emerged as the top-selling car in the first half of 2024. The SUV sold 1,10,308 units during this time, marking an increase of 64% from 67,117 units sold in the first half of 2023.
Mahindra
The Scorpio manufacturer, Mahindra ranked fourth on the sales charts last month. It sold 41,623 units, up 15% from 36,205 units delivered in July 2023. The carmaker is set to release its much-awaited 5-door SUV called the Thar Roxx on August 15. With its array of enhancements over its 3-door counterpart, the SUV is anticipated to fetch a higher price.

Toyota
Toyota saw a remarkable 42% year-over-year gain in July 2024. Compared to 20,759 units sold in July of the previous year, the manufacturer delivered 29,533 units last month. In a recent development, the company reopened the order books for the top-spec ZX and ZX(O) variants of the Innova Hycross MPV. The ZX version is priced at 30.34 lakh, while the ZX(O) costs Rs 30.98 lakh. Both are ex-showroom figures.
