Maruti Suzuki Dzire surpassed its sibling Alto to become the highest selling car in India in the month of June 2015. The sub-4 metre sedan recorded sales of 21,886 units in June, to narrowly edge out Alto by 771 units.
The third and fourth places in the list of top 10 list selling cars in India are also filled by Maruti. 17,313 units of the Swift hatchback were sold in the previous month, while 13,221 people rushed to Maruti’s showroom to buy a WagonR.
Korean car maker Hyundai is fifth in the list with the i20 premium hatchback (10,841 units), which received a major upgrade at the end of last year. Grand i10 is a position behind in sixth, with sales of 8,970 units.
Celerio occupies seventh position and is the fifth car from the Japanese manufacturer to make it to the list. The company recently announced that Celerio crossed 1,00,000 units in cumulative sales.
Honda City has a status attached to it and takes up eighth place in the list, ahead of the Amaze compact-sedan. City continues to lead the sedan segment, with Maruti’s Ciaz yet to pose a serious challenge since its launch in October 2014.
Mahindra Bolero rounds up the list in 10th place with sales of 6,093 units.
