Here are the country’s best-selling passenger vehicles in the first month of FY2018-19.
April 2018 was indeed a good month in terms of sales for many carmakers, but not every carmaker enjoyed the success of Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai as they continue to be the most chosen brands among Indian car buyers.
The all-new Swift has been doing incredibly well for Maruti Suzuki. With over 22,000 units sold in April, the Swift has officially surpassed the Alto in terms of monthly sales. On the other hand, the Swift-based compact sedan, or Dzire as it’s called, continued its title as India’s best-selling car last month as well.
The Vitara Brezza, again, was India’s best-selling UV in April, and with the addition of the just launched AMT option, Brezza’s sales are expected to strengthen further. In the premium hatchback space, the recently facelifted i20, which is India’s sixth best-selling car, still struggled to put a dent in Baleno’s monthly figures, which outsold the former by over 8,000 units last month.
For Hyundai, the i20, Grand i10 and Creta were the best-sellers, which is hardly a surprise. The Creta, despite its inflated price tag, continued to outsell not just its own competition, but also many more affordable cars. Hyundai is rumoured to soon launch the Creta facelift in India, which will surely draw more buyers towards the already strong-selling SUV.
