The Bentley Mulsanne, the legendary performance luxury sedan, reached the end of its production life in 2020, and when the Flying Spur went on sale, it became the new flagship model for Bentley. However, Mulsanne remained without a successor. And now, two years later, the erstwhile flagship model of Bentley – a bespoke 2020 Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase – has found its way into the automaker's Heritage Collection, a space designed for classic cars. This Mulsanne is the third and final Mulsanne in the 45-car Collection, following the VIN 0002 from 2010 and the 2019 Mulsanne Speed that served on Bentley’s press fleet.
Last-Ever Bentley Mulsanne: Design Highlights
Manufactured at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, the bespoke 2020 Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase is unique, in the sense that it was commissioned by the late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and was tailor-made to perform royal duties. The car's exterior is finished in a solid Barnato green shade, rounded off by an interior in Twine and Cumbrian hide, Burr Walnut wood veneers, and deep lambswool carpets.

The customisation continues with rear privacy curtains, the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom inlaid into the door waist-rails, and a custom-sized tray (that replaces the front centre armrests) for accommodating the Queen’s handbag. Other bits include carefully concealed blue police lights, a siren, a bullhorn, and a dedicated switch panel hidden behind a walnut-veneered door, complete with 21-inch alloy wheels as well as chrome brightware for the grille, front wing vents, and the iconic Flying B.
Last-Ever Bentley Mulsanne: Powertrain
The original Mulsanne, launched in 1980, came with the 6.75-litre V8 Rolls Royce engine, mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. This was followed by the Mulsanne Turbo in 1982, the Turbo R model with 300bhp on tap, the legendary Arnage, as well as the re-launched Bentley Mulsanne in the late 2000s – the first car to be independently designed by Bentley Motors in over 80 years.
In 2016, the new Mulsanne with a redesigned interior was launched alongside the Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase, which came with added 250mm of legroom for rear passengers making space for an ornate folding table, centre console, electronic leg-rests, and privacy curtains. Under the hood, the Mulsanne EWB gets the same 6.75-litre twin-turbo V8 engine as the reintroduced version in 2010, and is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
