Chevrolet had first introduced the 6.2-litre LT4 supercharged V8 engine on the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R about eight years ago in 2015. And now, the American carmaker has announced that its last-ever supercharged LT4 engine will find its way into the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, which celebrates the brand's legacy of style and agility, and according to the company, marks the end of the sixth-generation Camaro. The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and the Cadillac Escalade V, however, will still be available with the same powerplant, with the former making 659bhp and the latter 673bhp.

Underneath the skin, the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro Collector's Edition, which comes in LT/RS, LT1, SS, and ZL1 trim, gets a 3.6-litre V6, the standard 6.2-litre V8, or the supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine, depending on the trim. Built by Billy Burke, a 6.2-litre LT4 supercharged V8 engine in the Camaro ZL1 is capable of cranking out 650bhp and 881Nm of peak torque.

The supercharged LT4 engine featuring a dry-sump oiling system made its debut on the C7 Z06 Corvette in 2015 before making its way into the Cadillac CTS-V (2016), the Cadillac CT4 Blackwing, and the sixth-gen Camaro ZL1. Due to the discontinuation of the dry-sump version of the LT4 in early 2023, the LT4s in the CTS-V and the ZL1 now get a conventional wet-sump system. For those not aware, the Chevrolet Camaro's LT4 engine is rated as the second most powerful engine after the C7 ZR1 Corvette-powering General Motors LT5 engine (with 740bhp).

2024 Chevrolet Camaro Collector S Edition

The 2024 Chevrolet Camaro Collector's Edition draws inspiration from the original Camaro, codenamed 'Panther' in the 1960s. The LT/RS, LT1, and SS trims of the Collector's Edition get a Panther Black Metallic Tincoat paint job, accompanied by Satin Black accent stripes.

Meanwhile, the ZL1 wears a Panther Black Matte exterior colour that distinguishes it from the other trims. Furthermore, it borrows the front splitter and rear wing from the ZL1 1LE coupe. Other design bits include red brake callipers, black lug nuts, ZL1's racing stripes, and two new exterior colours available across all trims – Riptide Blue and Nitro Metallic Yellow.
