…and it costs just over Rs 32,000. Yes, you’ve read it right!
When McLaren revealed its plans of developing a Pure Electric Vehicle (EV) in the future, little did we know the day would come so soon, and the car… well, it would cater to a new target customer they have never aimed at before. This then is the new fully electric McLaren P1, that… wait for it… only your kid can drive.
The beauty of this machine though is in the fact that it looks exactly like the P1 hypercar. It gets the boomerang shaped headlights, large air-dams up front, alloy wheels, and a central faux exhaust outlet. While this tiny fully electric McLaren P1 looks identical to its larger gasoline powered sibling and has the signature dihedral doors, it does set itself apart in a few ways. The car has a central driving position that is reminiscent of the McLaren F1 and is open-top unlike its larger sibling.
Hit the start button and the motor comes to life along with the headlights and the air-conditioning unit. It comes mated to a three-speed transmission with a reverse gear and can attain its 4.8km/h top speed in just 2 seconds. This tiny McLaren even comes fitted with an MP3 system as standard equipment with pre-programmed popular nursery rhymes.
Unlike the P1, this all-electric roadster can be purchased in any colour as long as it is Volcano Yellow. It is the most compact car to sport the McLaren badge and priced at £375 (Rs 32,000 approx) is also the cheapest. The McLaren P1 fully electric roadster will go on sale towards the end of October at selected McLaren retailers around the world.
