Volvo has finally launched the Inscription and Momentum trims of its flagship product – the XC90 – in the Indian market with prices starting from Rs. 64.9 lakhs.
Volvo Auto India launched a more refined version of its already much talked about XC90 in India. In its new avatar, the highly able XC90 SUV will get new looks, new safety features and new powertrain technology. The new XC90 will use the D5, 2.0L, four-cylinder engine will provide 225bhp of power and 470Nm of torque, and an automatic eight-speed gearbox will deliver these numbers to all the four wheels.
The T-shaped DRL headlamps, larger bonnet, sharp looking shoulders and the new rear lights give the XC90 an unmistakable look. To add more to the appeal, the customers of the XC90 will be able to choose different wheel sizes going up to 20-inches.
The interior has been handcrafted to provide an impeccable sense of personalisation to the car. The central control console which is touch sensitive and allows the driver to control the car, and use various internet-based products and services, without touching any button.
In a run-off road scenario, the new Volvo XC90 will tighten the seat belts to make sure that the occupants are in position. The belts will remain tight till the car is in motion. In case of a hard landing on the tarmac, the energy-absorbing functionality between seat and seat frame cushions prevent the possible spine injuries. These technologies taken together, as claimed by Volvo, make the Volvo XC90 as one of the safest cars in the world right now.

An example of Volvo-by-Volvo, the new XC90 marks the beginning of a new chapter for Volvo Cars, capturing its future design direction, incorporating its own range of new technologies and utilizing its new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). Volvo has invested in USD 11Bn to develop the product and engine platforms over the past three years. The XC90 paves the way for a portfolio of exciting new cars to come in the following years.”
The Volvo XC90 Momentum has been priced at Rs. 64.9 lakhs and the Inscription trim has been priced at Rs. 77.9 lakhs (both prices are ex-showroom, Mumbai).
