Rolls-Royce Bespoke's latest creation is a result of one designer's love & passion for cryptography. Only 50 units of the Wraith Kryptos Collection will ever be commissioned.
Movie buffs and history aficionados like me have spent countless hours watching Nicholas Cage and his team decode an array of ciphers and piece together incoherent clues in order to discover the treasure of the American Freemasons in the famed movie National Treasure. Sometimes, one feels like being a part of such a treasure hunt. Well, if you have really deep pockets, and like me, have a thing for cryptography, then Rolls-Royce has just the car for you - the Wraith Kryptos Collection.
A creation of Rolls-Royce Bespoke, the Wraith Kryptos Collection offers its owner an opportunity to decipher multiple, complex ciphers and at the same time a chance to own a collector's item. These ciphers have been painstakingly incorporated into numerous elements of the Wraith and, according to Rolls-Royce, 'the cryptographic journey begins with the Spirit of Ecstasy.' These ciphers, at first glance, appear to be simple aesthetic additions. However, look closer and a challenge awaits.
All this may sound like Rolls-Royce's idea of child-like fun, however, there is an ultimate answer waiting for those who are able to piece together all the clues and solved codes. In fact, folks at Goodwood are so particular about this activity that the final answer is known to just two people – Katrin Lehmann (Designer of the Wraith Kryptos Collection) and Torsten Müller-Ötvös (CEO – Rolls-Royce Motor Cars). The final answer lies in a sealed envelope resting in the CEO's safe at Rolls-Royce's Goodwood facility!
Though it's hard to imagine a Rolls-Royce customer being bothered about a 'quest', for those who are, they will have to submit their answer to the ciphers via the members-only Rolls-Royce Application - Whispers.
